  • Description:
    • Berglund Construction has a reputation for solving the most challenging logistics and access challenges to restore building facades. At the 41-story Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus, Ohio, we are using state-of-the-art mast climbers and suspended scaffold systems to reach every granite panel on the building.

The mast climber system allows us to reach more than 100 feet of the building on its platform. The project requires two spans of mast climber platforms for access: One on the west elevation, which we installed earlier this year, and one on the south elevation, which we’re in the process of installing. The electric-powered mast climber platform creates a sustainable, efficient workspace for our tradespeople to remove and reset large granite panels.

The suspended scaffold systems are rigged with all traction hoists and cable winders on the roof. This innovative system increases the capacity of the platforms to 3,000 pounds – facilitating the removal and replacement of large granite panels in hard to reach places. Our tradespeople have setup eight of them with different configurations around the building.

We began work at Rhodes Tower in the fall of 2018. The project will be completed in 2021.
