  • Description:
    • Collin College on Friday broke ground on a new campus in Farmersville that will serve students in the eastern part of the county.

The college system is adding five more campuses over the next three years to accommodate a fast-growing county.

Collin County’s population is expected to increase to 2.4 million people in 2050, which is about three times more than the population in 2010, according to the Texas Demographic Center.

Collin College has eight established campuses and centers already in place, located from Preston Ridge to Rockwall.

The Farmersville Campus will be near the intersection of Audie Murphy Parkway and State Highway 78. It will offer multiple academic programs ranging from business management to computer systems and is projected open in fall of 2021.

Construction for other new campuses are already underway.

The Wylie Campus will include a student center, lab facilities, a library and other amenities. The Technical Campus, which will be located in Allen, will contain advanced manufacturing, health science and construction-focused programs. Both are expected to be completed in the fall of 2020.

The Celina Campus -- which will include computer and science labs, classrooms and a library -- is projected to be complete in the fall of 2021.

Additionally, the Collin College intends to add an Information Technology Center to the existing Frisco Campus by the fall of 2021.
